Friendship Train Foundation is sponsoring a hiking trip to the Watchung Reservation on Sunday November 2nd from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
The relatively easy trail has a few areas of moderately exposed roots and loose rocks so good hiking shoes are a must. The trip will go about 6 miles into the reservation for a total of about a 13-mile hike.
Watchung Reservation in Union County is a 2,000-acre wooded tract where animal and plant life are protected. Highlights of the park include Surprise Lake, the Deserted Village of Feltvile/Glenside Park, the Trailside Nature and Science Center, Seeley’s Pond, and the Watchung Stables. Opened in 1941, The Trailside Museum was New Jersey’s first nature museum.
- Travel time to and from location will be about 6 hours
- There are no convenient stores or food so everyone needs to have lunch, snacks and drinks packed
Please Note: This trip is restricted to youth 11 years of age & older. Registrations are on a first come, first serve basis. Trips that do not meet minimum registration requirements may be cancelled. In case of rain this trip will go to NY Museum Of Natural History.
