Michel Marks – President
Friendship Train Foundations’ creator, door-opener, gadfly. Father of one, godfather of many. Passionate about collaboration. Former revolutionary, resurrector and community builder at NYMEX and Count Basie Theater.
Former Superior Court Judge of the State of NJ and admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. A former member of the NJ General Assembly and President of the NJ Board of Public Utilities, Judge Curran volunteers with various government and community organizations to provide legal, educational, health, housing, and employment services to veterans and their families.
Has extensive experience working with non-profits in education, having spent 8 years with the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, developing and managing the information systems that facilitated the accreditation process. Currently a corporate governance officer, his focus has always been on institutional ethics and integrity, and he brings this experience and commitment to the board of FTF.
Until relocating to North Carolina, Steve was actively involved with Friendship Train Foundation as a program director. He developed and initiated the first FTF afterschool programs designed to serve at risk youths. Steven sought out individuals, organizations, and groups to partner and collaborate with and sought funding to expand programming. His background in large scale, commercial construction management provided him the necessary tools to bring together various groups to achieve innovative and successful programming.
